Who Was Marley Yott?
Marley was a beautiful soul who had so much love to give to their friends, family and community. A glowing advocate and ally to the queer community, Marley volunteered with ARCH as a Peer Support Mentor and helped many people both close friends and acquaintances, with their transition journey. Marley loved music and sang in the Oakville Children’s Choir growing up, the Rainbow Chorus and the Guelph Chamber Choir. They also enjoyed crafting projects such as knitting and wood burning and found solace in nature, always finding a reason to go hiking, biking or canoeing whenever they could. Marley passed away far too soon of a fentanyl overdose and this fund is designed to continue Marley’s legacy of loving support by providing financial assistance to trans and non-binary people in need.

What is the Marley Legacy Project Fund?
Marley’s own transition journey was not without its complications. At the end of their life Marley was finally comfortable in their body, but this took years of paperwork, patience, and money as they navigated the system.
The Marley Legacy Project provides transgender and non-binary folks with modest grants to assist them with transitioning so that their experience might be easier than Marley’s was. This fund is administered by Out on the Shelf.
How Does it Work
Out on the Shelf is now the holding organization for the Marley’s Fund – your application will be reviewed by the Fund Committee, comprised of Out on the Shelf board members and an external evaluators (currently members of Marley’s family). You will be contacted as soon as possible with further information on the status of your application.
