📰 News and Updates

Virtual Library Card

We've introduced a digital version of your Out on the Shelf library card! If you login to Out on the Shelf website and view your profile, you should see a digital version of your library card that can be printed or saved on your phone. If your library card is inactive, you can always renew your membership!

Thank you Project Serve!

We've participated in the University of Guelph's Project Serve Day for a couple years which provides students an opportunity to volunteer with a community organization. This past fall, Project Serve went online, and we got to work with several University of Guelph students on brainstorming ideas for this virtual newsletter!

Community Letter re: GPS' Safe Place Program

We shared a community letter in response to Guelph Police Service's Safe Place Program last month and wanted to provide you with an update. The letter has over 100 signatures from community organizations, businesses, and individuals from concerned local LGBTQ2IA+ citizens and their allies. Currently the program is on pause and being reviewed. You can view the ARCH statement on Safe Place Program, which includes more information about the already existing community program Voices of Value, which we at support. The letter also referred to the Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB)'s Police Presence in Schools Task Force which recommended the removal of School Resource Officers from schools. The Board of Trustees approved the recommendation(s) on April 27, 2021.

Meet Griffin Heaney, our wonderful project assistant!

Griffin is pursuing an MA in Social Justice and Community Engagement at Wilfrid Laurier University and is volunteering with us as part of a student placement.

Griffin has been helping us out with updating our resources pages, organizing our digital media, developing policies, and becoming familiar with OOTS's operations as a whole.

Thank you to Griffin for sharing your knowledge, experience, and skills with us!
