LGBTQ+ Health |
It can be hard to find health information specific to LGBTQ+, especially since so much of what we know about health is based on cisgender, heterosexual people, and heteronormative lifestyles. Not all health and service providers are up to date on issues that matter for LGBTQ+ people’s health. In these linked sections, you will find resources and links to information that specifically relates to LGBTQ+ health. This section is not exhaustive – please let us know if you know of other resources you would like to see added.

Sexual Health
Due to a systemic lack of social and economic support, LGBTQ+ people face higher rates of depression, suicidality, and substance abuse than the general population (see more information at Canadian Mental Health Association). Please find resources below to support and prioritize your mental health.
LGBTQ+ people can face specific and different physical health concerns than other people. We may also face a lack of knowledge from cisgender and straight health care practicitioners. Please find below information about accessing general LGBTQ+ and transgender and nonbinary specific health care.
This section aims to fill the gap left in sexual health education, in the general underrepresentation of LGBTQ+ specific sexual health. Please find below resources regarding STI & HIV Testing, healthy relationships, and transgender and nonbinary specific materials.
